The US electronics store chain Radio Shack had cut the price of new iPhones on contract.
It's knocked $30 off the up-front cost.
The move has fueled speculation that the launch of the next-generation device is imminent.
There are reports a new iPhone will be announced in August and go on sale in the US in September, followed by other countries - including the UK - a month later.
