The special page on the Apple website was set up after Steve Jobs' news conference where he acknowledged the iPhone 4 has a signal problem - dubbed DeathGrip - when held in a certain way. He also announced all iPhone 4 owners would get a free case or Bumper to help with the issue.
The page named other manufacturers' phones that, Apple alleged, suffered the same signal-loss problems. Its evidence was backed up by videos.
It caused outrage from the other phone makers, including HTC, Blackberry, Nokia and Motorola, who accused Apple of dragging them into a fight that wasn't theirs. It also provoked Motorola to launch a series of adverts for its new Droid X smartphone poking fun at Apple. One was headlined "No Jacket Required"
Now Apple has removed all mention of other manufacturers from the webpage, and instead explains how signal loss can happen and brags about its state-of-the-art test facilities.
