The new Google TV has been reviewed by the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. And, in both, it's slated for its complexity.
Times reviewer David Pogue describes it as "an enormous step in the wrong direction: towards complexity." He says the interface breeds inconsistency and chaos.
He says the TV platform "is not for average people", but admits geeks may enjoy it.
Over at the Journal, the hallowed Walt Mossberg ran much the same line saying Google TV is a "geek product".
"It's too complicated. Some of its functions fall short". And he found the experience "frustrating".
Not a good start for Google TV being launched as a direct rival to the relaunched Apple TV, which is still in its infancy and which, in the past, Steve Jobs has described as "a hobby" for Apple.
