Roller-Coaster Ride For T-Mobile iPhone Hopefuls In US

Poor T-Mobile users in the US who're hoping that their network is about to stock the iPhone, smashing AT&T's exclusive deal with Apple.

A couple of days ago, people started to notice USB-to-iPhone cables appearing in T-Mobile stores. Hopes were high that it was a prelude to the phones themselves appearing.

But T-Mobile issued a statement saying the cables are being stocked in selected stores for customers with unlocked iPhones and for visitors from abroad. Mmmmmmm...sounds vaguely feasible.

Now, it's reported some T-Mobile customers are being sent micro-SIM cards by mistake...and we all know that the tiny variant of the normal SIM is used in iPhone 4s and iPads. Most other phones use the larger mini-SIM.

Customers are saying they're being offered a SIM swap when they complain that the micro card doesn't fit their phone. And this is again stoking the rumour mill.

So far, T-Mobile has said nothing about the SIM mix-up.
