It's Confirmed: O2 UK ARE Officially Unlocking iPhone 4

It's been confirmed that UK network, O2, are now officially unlocking the iPhone 4. And it's free for contract customers.

I reported yesterday that word had it O2 would today start to allow the iPhone 4 to be unlocked along with the 3G and 3GS. And people are now getting confirmations.

To apply for the unlock, you have to fill in this webform. You're told you may have to wait up to two weeks, but it seems the unlocking is happening within 24-hours.

O2 send you a confirmation text and you connect your iPhone 4 to iTunes to complete the process.

It gives you a "factory unlocked" device which will accept any SIM and stay unlocked for ever.
