The news has been confirmed by Jay Freeman aka Saurik, the person behind the Cydia App Store on jailbroken iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches.
According to TUAW, he says the jailbreak store for Mac OS X desktops and laptops will be called Mac Cydia. And he says it will be available "within weeks".
Apple is planning to release its own app store for Macs, probably in January. Mac Cydia will cater for apps that don't meet Apple's restrictions.
Saurik also gave some interesting facts about Cydia on iDevices: Cydia has been used by about 10% of all devices, that's a total of about 10-million. There are now more than 30,000 apps and tweaks in the Cydia store.
