The UK network 3 is offering unlimited mobile data. This is bucking the trend of networks capping usage and charging high prices if users bust the limit. The company's basic mobile broadband package, The One Plan, costs £25 a month and from today it will be uncapped. It was limited to 1GB a month, but the company says now users will not be charged for excessive use. It also offers 2000 minutes and 5000 texts.
It's going against the trend of operators imposing strict limits.
It means, for example, iPad and iPhone owners could cut down a One Plan SIM and stick it in their devices and not worry about data usage. The company also allows tethering.
3 has six-million customers in the UK, including 1.5-million mobile internet customers.
Only time will tell if other networks will be forced to follow, but lets hope so.
At the time of writing, the 3 offer wasn't on the company's website but presumably soon will be.
