It's reported Apple has just signed up a new Director Of Global Security. He's David Rice, Director of The Monterey Group, a cyber-security consultancy. He's the author of a book "Geekonomics", in which he says that security vulnerabilities in software should be treated as "a public hazard". In fact, he argues that users should be taxed so unsafe software can be repaired - like bridges or railways.
Apple is well aware that as more people use its devices - like iPhones and iPads - for e-commerce, so more hackers and criminals will attack them.
It wants companies that sell stuff on iDevices to believe everything is being done to make the technology secure.
Last year, Apple hired Window Snyder (fab name!) as its Senior Product Manager for Security. He was former security chief at Mozilla.
