The new cap will start on February 1 and will even affect existing customers on 1GB and 3GB contracts. If they go over the new limit, their data usage will be throttled to simple web browsing, but downloading, streaming and game-playing will be blocked.
Many customers say they signed up to a contract with a 1 or 3GB "fair usage policy" and T-Mobile has now broken the terms of the contract. The company argues that "fair usage policy" isn't part of a contract.

It's understood many customers have complained to the mobile telecom regulator.
