Engadget Publishes "Pics Of HP Palm Tablets" - First Real iPad rival?

Engadget has published the first photos of what claims to be the much-anticipated HP Palm tablets.

They were apparently sent anonymously to the website.

One is the 9"-screen Topaz and the other the 7" Opal. It appears they both have cameras and what looks like micro-USB ports. And very nice they look too.

But the major thing with the HP tablets is the company's acquisition of Palm last year. The devices will run an updated version of Palm's webOS operating system. The industry is waiting with baited breath to see how well this works.

HP's tablets are due to be formally announced at a Press event on February 9, but won't be in shops until much later in the year.  The iPad-2 will be out by then and only time will tell if these PalmPads are a real threat to Apple's domination of the market.

It rests on how good webOS is...and the all-important pricing.
