Investors See Big Year Ahead For Bump iPhone App

The Bump iPhone app became a hit almost as soon as it was launched in March 2009.

It was a starkly simple concept with mind-boggling technology behind it. It lets you exchange stuff on your iPhone simply by bumping it with another iPhone that has the app loaded.

You can swap photos, contacts, diary events, social network profiles and it has an instant messaging system built in. Bump also released an Android version and now has seven-million active users.

The company behind the app, Bump Technologies, has just finished a round of fund-raising from investors..and it's managed to get $16m into its coffers.

It seems Bump has plans for expansion. It's info-exchange system could be licensed to other apps - PayPal already use it - and it could be used for into-exchange with other devices, like screens at concerts to get photos and sample music of bands.
