iPad Rag "The Daily" Delayed

There's yet another delay for the planned big launch of the News Corp iPad-only newspaper The Daily, already way behind schedule.

The company says plans for Roop Murdoch and Steve Jobs to join forces for the launch next Thursday have been postponed "by weeks, not months". The millionaire moguls were due to take to a stage at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art to launch what's seen, by Mr Murdoch anyway, as the way forward to save the ailing print media industry.

No reason's been given for the delay, but you can bet it's because News Corp is still negotiating with Apple over  how subscriptions for the publication will be collected. Apple is expected to announce a new subscription model, where it collects regular payment from your iTunes account, takes its cut, and gives the rest to the app developers.  Publishers would rather get all the money themselves, but realise the method has got to be standardised.

The delay is also bad news for around 150 journos who've already been hired and are sitting around working hard playing cards producing dummy editions of The Daily at News Corp's New York headquarters. It's expected to cost 59p/99c when it eventually lumbers onto our iPads.
