Japanese Government "Demands Adult Content Filtering" On iPhones

It's being reported that the Japanese Government is demanding "adult content" filters be pre-installed in all iPhones sold in the country.

MobileCrunch is quoting Japanese media as saying the demand has come from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.

The Ministry has, apparently, criticised Apple and Softbank, the mobile operator that sells the iPhone in Japan, for "insufficient content control for minors".  Presumably this means the phone doesn't do enough to filter out internet pornography.

Mobile operators in Japan are obliged by law to install censoring software before selling mobile phones to minors.
