Hugh Hefner: Playboy Will Be on iPad Uncensored

Update: Got to admit now, we got this story wrong, along with the whole internet. Heff's tweets actually meant Playboy will be releasing a mobile-friendly version of its website, not an app. So, we can all sleep soundly knowing that Apple is not letting down its dirt and filth barriers. Phew!

This is an interesting tweet from Playboy magazine boss, Hugh Hefner. It looks like Apple's strict no-nudity rules for apps in its App Store could be being relaxed.

Playboy is already in the App Store, but a censored, no-nudity version.

Hefner has tweeted that the mag, including back editions, will soon be available on the iPad...as early as March...and, according to Hefner, both old and new will be uncensored.

It seems this could all be tied up with Apple's planned new magazine and newspaper subscription method, where subscriptions will be bought through iTunes accounts.  Apple could then argue it's only for adults, because you have to register a credit card.

So perhaps Steve Jobs' famed wish for a world "free from porn" is giving way to market forces.
