Publishers Get Impatient For An iPad Subscription Deal

It seems magazine and newspaper publishers are getting impatient with Apple for "dragging its heals" over an iPad subscription deal.

It's thought Apple is poised to sign an agreement with Rupert Murdoch's News Corp for "The Daily", an iPad-only newspaper. But even that has now been delayed for the second time.

The Daily will leave Apple to collect its 99c subscription through customers' iTunes accounts. But, according to The New York Times, there have been no talks with other publishers, including Conde Nast, Hearst and the other big players.

The last thing they want to see is News Corp getting the only automatic-subscriptions deal, with them being left to carry on selling their publications issue by issue.

More details are also leaking about the format of The (Delayed) Daily.  It seems it will be more magazine than newspaper in layout and will utilise a lot of multi-media.
