TechCrunch is reporting that Apple's much-trumpeted iAds are going through a rough time with spots not getting filled.
Apple introduced iAds on iPhones, iPods and iPads last year. They're in-app adverts that expand to fullscreen-multi-media glory when you tap them. Apple says they've proved to be more engaging to users than even TV ads.
But TechCrunch says, for two app developers anyway, most iAds slots are staying unfilled - down from just 18% to 6%. And, it says, developers of newer apps are reporting no iAds at all. The developers get a share of revenue for every iAd opened.
It could just be a natural post-Christmas slump...or it could be the novelty factor is wearing off.
