Apple Tightens The Screws On Publishers

It seems Apple is really turning to screws on publishers using the App Store.

We've already reported that Cupertino has rejected the latest bookreader app from Sony and word is spreading that Apple is using not-so-gentle persuasion to get all in-app purchases channelled through the App Store so it can get its 30%.

At the moment, many book, newspaper and magazine apps use other methods.  A common one is to direct you away from their app when you click "buy", and open a Safari web page for you to complete the purchase. That means you're buying outside the app so Apple won't get its cut.

It seems Apple is now putting pressure on sellers - like Sony, Amazon's Kindle and others - to at least include the option of buying in-app.  For the buyer, it would be a better experience because you don't have to go through the app closing and Safari opening.  And for Apple....well, loadsadosh.
