"The Daily" Boss Gets Promotion On Eve Of Launch

The News Corp Executive behind the company's iPad-only newspaper The Daily - due to launch on Tuesday February 2 - has been promoted.

His boss, Rupert Murdoch, obviously thinks John McKinley has done well, even though all we've seen of The Daily is precisely nothing apart from two delays.
McKinley has been bumped up to News Corp Chief Technology Officer and ... deep breath .... President of Technology for News Corp Digital Media Group.

Until now, he's been technology chief and head of product design for The Daily.

Roop is due to head up The Daily launch on stage at the Guggenheim Museum in New York. It'll cost 99c/59p a week and expect Apple to take the chance to unveil a new subscription method based on iTunes.

It's thought The Daily will initially launch in the US, with a worldwide roll-out later.
