HP has officially unveiled its TouchPad tablet, which it hopes will rival the success of Apple's iPad. But will it be too little too late?
It looks remarkably similar to the iPad, with the same 9.7" size screen. The operating system will be webOS, an updated version of the highly-praised OS that powered the Palm Pre smartphones, although HP has now dropped the Palm branding after it bought the company last year.
HP says it's also got a couple of big subscription deals set up, including with Time Warner for magazines like People and Sports Illustrated. And Amazon has said it will offer a version of its Kindle bookreader app.
All HP have said about a launch date is "summer" and all it's said about price is it will be "competitively" priced against the iPad. There will be a WiFi-only version first, followed by a WiFi and 3G version.
So will it be a game-changer? That depends on when it's actually launched, with launch dates tending to slip, how much it costs, and how many apps will be available at launch.
HP also announced two new smartphones. The Pre3 is an updated version of the ... err..Pre2. But the tiny Veer touchscreen is a brand new model from HP with a slide-down keypad.
