The Wall Street Journal is reporting that production has started on the iPad 2. It says it's being made at the usual Foxconn factories in China and will go on sale in a couple of months. It confirms reports that the new iPad will be thinner and lighter with a faster processor and more memory, although it's not sure whether it will have one or two cameras. One thing's for sure, though, it will be ready for FaceTime video-calling.
Industry watchers expect the new iPad to go on sale at much the same price as the current model, which will probably take a price dive.
So far, the first iPad has sold nearly 15-million units worldwide. It's thought the iPad 2 may go on sale only in the US, with a staged worldwide roll-out.
