Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 Confirmed

Well, here it is.  The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. This is the tablet that the South Korean manufacturer really hopes will kick the iPad into touch - at least for a few months until the iPad 2 comes out.

And Samsung has confirmed that the leaked specs are correct. It's got a 10.1" screen - slightly bigger than the iPad - and surround-sound speakers.  There are also two cameras and it's running Google's brand spanking new Android 3 Honeycomb operating system - that's the one Google has produced specially for tablets.

The earlier Galaxy Tab from Samsung certainly made it mark, but many people found the 7" screen too small and it was running an Android OS designed for smartphones.

So, this new one could be the one Samsung's been praying for.  The usual provisos apply....as long as it gets into the shops quickly  - Samsung says March - and as long as the price doesn't force a sharp intake of breath.
