Verizon iPhone Sells Out On First Day Of Pre-Orders

US network Verizon opened its website today to on-line pre-ordering of its iPhone 4 in advance of the February 10 official launch - and sold out within 24-hours.

Customers are now being told to try ordering again on the website on February 9 or buy from Verizon and Apple store on official launch day.

Some customers who did manage to order have received emails already saying their device is "shipping".

Pre-ordering was only open to existing Verizon customers.  And we'll have to wait to see if their phones actually arrive before the launch day.

The Verizon deal marks the end of AT&T's monopoly on the iPhone in the US. Last year, the AT&T website crashed with the weight of orders when the iPhone 4 launched on the network.
