Apple Confirms It Pulled "Gay Cure" App

Apple has confirmed it pulled an odious "gay cure" iPhone app from the App Store because it broke the rules.

There was an angry outcry when the app - from US organisation Exodus International - appeared and campaigning group change.org organised a petition signed by more than 150,000 people.

The app claimed to "cure" homosexuality "through the power of Jesus Christ".  Apple says:
“We removed the Exodus International app from the App Store because it violates our developer guidelines by being offensive to large groups of people.”
The petition organisers noted that:
Apple “doesn’t allow racist or anti-Semitic apps in its App Store, yet it is giving the green light to an app targeting vulnerable LGBT youth with the message that their sexual orientation is a ‘sin’”.
