One of the UK's largest on-line retailers - Play.com - has admitted a major security breach that's compromised customers personal details.
Some customers' names and email addresses have been leaked from a marketing company and Play has emailed customers reassuring them no other information, such as credit card details, was breached.
That's all well-and-good, but someone somewhere now has a mailing list, which could potentially be used to send official-looking scam emails asking for more information on customers or links that take you to a bogus Play website offering downloads infected with malware.
Play is now telling customers to be "vigilent" if they get emails purporting to come from the company and forward any suspicious ones to privacy@play.com
Update: It seems the email scams have started already. Posters at moneysavingexpert forums report getting scam emails.
