Facebook Introduces Suicide Alert System

Facebook is launching a suicide alert system, where users can report friends they think may be contemplating killing themselves.

It follows well-publicised cases where people have killed themselves after posting their intention on the social network site.

Now, you can contact Facebook who will try to get in touch with the person you're worried about and inform help groups like The Samaritans.

The trouble is finding out how you contact Facebook.

You have to go to the Facebook Help Centre Page and then type in "suicide" in the search box. It comes up with a list of help organisations to contact...but right at the very end there's a "Please also report suicidal content to Facebook" link.  And it's very easy to miss.
Facebook says it's been trialling the system without publicity and has had no hoaxes.  Probably because no-one could find the link.
