Google has apologised to thousands of Gmail customers who logged-in to find their inboxes empty and their accounts wiped clean.
Imagine the feeling when you find your carefully saved cache of emails has disappeared.
But don't worry, Google says they should all eventually re-appear. It seems some accounts were accidentally reset and Google is now going through back-ups to restore them. In fact, Google is having to resort to getting back-ups from off-line tape storage.
It says the problem affected 0.02% of Gmail customers...but that's still a lot.
