After doing an iPad 2 teardown, the guys at the iFixit website have moved onto that must-have accessory, the Smart Cover.
That's the cover Apple has produced to protect your iPad 2 screen. It's a flap of plastic ($39) or leather ($69), that attaches itself to your device by the magic of magnetism. It also wakes up your machine when you flap it open and puts it to sleep when you close it.
iFixit found the cover contains an amazing 21 magnets, with an additional 10 magnets built into the iPad 2 itself.
One of the magnets in the cover is dedicated to the switch-on-switch-off thing...the others are to clamp it to the device.
