Users are reporting problems with syncing after updating to iTunes 10.2, released earlier this week.
Some users say their iDevice is no longer recognised by their PC, others say they stick at "preparing to sync".
Here's a tweet to IJSMblog:
And a thread on the problem has been started at the Apple Support Forums:
Apple has come up with no solution yet, although some users say reinstalling the latest iTunes from the Apple website has solved it for them. Others say deleting their photo cache has worked. But many more can't find a solution.
Have you come across this problem? Please leave a comment if you've found a solution.
Here's the thread about it in the Apple Support Forum
Update: plummmers (see tweet above) reports that reinstalling iTunes 10.2 and waiting for "a long time" on the first sync has solved the problem.
Update 2: iTunes has now been updated again to 10.2.1.

Windows sees phone but iTunes says no devices connected.
Does Apple even test this stuff before pushing it out?
Nope, I have the same problem - since updating to 10.2 my ipod appears on my desktop but not on itunes. Have tried deleting and reinstalling on several occasions... still does not work.
I've also tried another (brand new) ipod and the same things happens so it' definitely a problem with itunes... really beginning to annoy me now!
Love to hear of any fixes or work arounds.

Itunes now longer recognize the ipod touch. All songs had been removed. Really bad updates, will try to troubleshoot...
