RIM's first foray into the tablet market, the Blackberry PlayBook, has been getting bad reviews ahead of going on sale in the US on Tuesday April 19.
Most of the criticism of the 7-inch screen, WiFi-only device is because you need to have a Blackberry smartphone working in tandem with the tablet for it to get an email service.
The tablet needs a Bluetooth connection to a Blackberry smartphone to access RIM's super-secure email system, although any phone can be used simply to connect it to the internet.
Influential reviewer Walt Mossberg of the Wall Street Journal:
"I can't recommend the PlayBook over a fully standalone tablet, except possibly for folks whose BlackBerrys never leave their sides."RIM share price took a tumble following the reviews.
