Greenpeace Damns Apple For Dirty Data

Apple has been put at the bottom of a green league table of tech companies for its reliance on "dirty data" centres.

A report produced by Greenpeace criticises Apple for relying heavily on polluting coal power at sites that house its banks of servers.

The report - How Dirty Is Your Data? - says the opening soon of a new storage facility in North Carolina will triple Apple's electricity consumption.  It says 62% of the electricity used at the facility will be produced by coal burning.

Top of the list of green power tech companies is Yahoo followed by Google and Amazon.
