Apple Retail Stores "Preparing For New Payment System - No New Products"




Apple blogs have been buzzing about planned all-staff meetings being held at the company's retail stores this weekend with blacked out windows and special training packs being delivered.

And this week marks the 10th anniversary of the opening of the first store.

So, put two and two together and you get........

Well, it seems this time not eight.  AppleInsider is reporting it's been told the the activity is for the introduction of a new payment method and not, as widely reported, preparing for a new product launch.

It seems staff will take customers payments on specially modified iPads, replacing their current iPod Touches. AppleInsider has published the photo above allegedly showing iPads with black SmartCovers that were delivered for staff at one store.
