Apple has nominated its Vice President of Software, Bud Tribble, to give evidence to a US Senate committee investigating privacy.
The hearing was sparked, in part, by the revelation that the iPhone and the 3G iPad collected users time-stamped location data. Apple insists it doesn't collect the info - it says on the device - but very quickly released an operating system update to cut the amount of data saved, make it deletable and encrypted, and stop it being transferred to PCs during syncing.
Tribble is a long-time Apple employee and was part of the team that developed the Mac OS. The hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, May 10.
