A few years ago, the failing Nokia mobile phone company decided to have a brain-storming session to come up with a cute name for its services. It had Nokia Email and Nokia App Store and Nokia Maps and, err, I think there were more but can't really remember.
Anyway, this brain-storming session (it cost loads of money and involved lots of executives being flown to beautiful hotels) (I just made that last bit up, but it could be true) came up with the name Ovi.
So we had Ovi Mail, Ovi Maps....you got the idea.
Well, Nokia has just announced it will be dropping the name Ovi and will instead call its services...err...Nokia.
So we'll be back to Nokia Mail, Nokia App Store and so on...and so on...and so on.
Hey, it keep the world going round.
Here's the Nokia gobbledegook press release.
