RIM has angered Blackberry users by confirming its next smartphone operating system update will only be for new phones and not existing devices.
The announcement came as RIM unveiled its new Blackberry Bold 9900, due to go on sale in the summer. It will be loaded with the next OS update, Blackberry 7, with many enhancements and additional features including better web browsing.
But RIM says it will not be available as an update for current devices. It says the OS needs more powerful hardware to make it work properly.
