Internet security company, Avast, has launched a free anti-virus programme for Macs. It's in beta but has been released for public testing.
Avast already produces widely-used free anti-virus software for Windows.
It comes as concern grows over viral attacks directed at Mac computers, once considered safe from any major threat.
Apple this week released an update for its Mac OS X operating system to combat Mac Defender malware. But just hours later, it was reported the malware had been rewritten to get round Apple's new security measures.
Mac Defender can automatically download and install itself, directing users to websites where they're asked to enter credit card details for an anti-virus programme.
