An Australian website, Smarthouse, is reporting that Apple is planning to market a TV set. Not just any old TV set, but a 55" OLED set. OLED gives better picture quality because it doesn't need a backlight. Blacks are blacker and colours more vivid (apparently).
The TV set would come with a service of streaming content from iTunes.
The website says Apple is in talks with LG, which already manufactures screens used in Mac computers. LG has said it plans to start making OLED screens - at low capacity - late next year.
It's known Apple wants a bigger slice of the streaming TV business. It already has Apple TV, a box that plugs into sets and streams a fairly limited selection of movies and TV shows.
