It seems Facebook's "awesome" announcement next Wednesday might not be an iPad app or a photo-sharing service. TechCrunch says it's been told it will be a Facebook video-chat feature.
And it says the new service will be powered by Skype.
Other sources are saying the service will be mainly aimed at mobile devices, but with a desktop element. And let's not forget Microsoft's involvement in all this: the software giant is in the process of buying Skype and is a large shareholder in Facebook.
Facebook has now sent out Press invitations (above) and suddenly those speech bubbles make sense.
