Microsoft Bing Brings New Touch Gesture To The iPad

Microsoft is brining a new touch gesture to the iPad with its Bing search app.

Bing is being updated to include Lasso, a new way to select text. You stab the iPad screen with your finger and draw a circle around the word or phrase you want to search. Bing will then, in effect, cut and paste it into the search box.

It saves using the iOS cut and paste method of stabbing and manoeuvring the little blue-dot lines that can be fiddly and time-consuming.
From our research, we know that many searches are inspired by things people see on the web. Today, it can be somewhat painful to search on a tablet when you’re engaged in reading something; just copying and pasting pieces of text from a webpage to a search box can take up to nine steps on the iPad. With Lasso you can circle and search in just two steps.
Bing is free in the Apple App Store, but only available in the US. Microsoft says it's planning an international roll-out.
