UK satellite TV provider Sky has finally launched something that resembles a proper streaming app for the iPhone and iPad.
Sky Go replaces the Sky Player web-based app and the very shaky Sky Mobile iPhone app.
It doesn't have all the Sky channels but the main ones are there, including Sky Sports 1 and 2. There's also an electronic programme guide. But there's no way to remotely set your Sky+ box to record. For that, you'll still need the separate Sky+ app.
Sky Go, which works with 3G as well as WiFi, is a free download in the Apple App Store. You'll need to be a Sky TV customer to use it, or you can pay £15-a-month subscription.
There. Managed to write that without one mention of Murdoch or phone hacking. Oops.
