It's reported Apple will be bringing out a new entry-level addition to its iMac range of desktop computers, with a UK price of less than £700.
9to5mac says its sources predict the new all-in-one machine will have a 3.06GHz dual-core processor, 2GB RAM, 250GB hard-disc storage space and probably with a 21.5" screen.
It's understood Apple wants to get the price below $1,000 in the US. At the moment, the cheapest iMac desktop in the UK Apple Store is £999.
9to5mac says launch day could be August 16 - or certainly around the middle of this month. It also says it will be a soft launch, so don't expect TV ads or anything like that.
Update: Well, a $999 iMac with the expected specs has appeared on the Apple US Education Sales website. No sign of it on the main on-line store or in the UK. So it looks like it's only for pupils/students.
