Samsung will go back to court in Germany later this month to try to overturn a ban on distributing its new Galaxy Tab in most of Europe.
The ban was imposed by a judge after Apple claimed the Tab is a copy of the iPad. In fact, Cupertino claims Samsung has "slavishly" copied the iPhone and iPad with its range of Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
Reuters reports that a new hearing is scheduled for August 25:
And don't forget, all this comes even though Samsung is the manufacturer behind a lot of the components in iPhones.In a global intellectual property battle, Apple has also sued Samsung in the United States, Australia and elsewhere.The August 25 hearing will be followed by a decision, likely within a few weeks.Samsung, whose tablets are based on Google's Android software, has countersued Apple.Apple has also filed an injunction at a court in The Hague on three patent, copyright and design infringements, to stop the sale of some Samsung products in the Netherlands and block their distribution in the EU via the Netherlands.Dutch judge Edger Brinkman told the court on Thursday he would decide on the case by September 15, adding that if he ruled in Apple's favor, the injunction would come into effect four weeks later, on October 13.
