This is an artists impression of the new, refurbished "glass cube" Apple store in 5th Avenue, New York. It's due to open in November.
It was something of a mystery why Apple closed the old "glass cube" earlier this year and announced it was spending $6.6-million to improve it.
Well, now we know. Cupertino wants fewer panes of glass in a new, simplified design. The company has now put up a big hoarding at the site explaining that instead of using 90 panes of glass, the new building will have just 15. And we mean 15 HUGE ones.
And just for comparisons sake, here's what the old store looked like.
