Apple iPhone Media Event: What We Know...

The day has arrived. At 10am on Tuesday October 4 at Apple HQ in Cupertino, California, CEO Tim Cook will take to the stage to present the company's latest "let's talk iPhone event".

Here, point by point, is what we know will be announced:

1. Err...
2. Umm...
3. Well...
4. Err...

And that's about it.

Apple's secrecy blanket has worked very well for this event. No-one seems to know exactly what is going to be announced.

Here are the possibilities:

1. The iPhone 4S. This seems quite likely. But it could be an upgrade of the current iPhone 4...or it could be a cut-down, cheaper, version tailored for the pre-pay market. 
2. The iPhone 5. Again, likely but not quite as likely as an iPhone 4S. 
3. This one is more certain. There will certainly be an announcement about the next upgrade to the iDevice software - iOS5. But it could simply be the announcement of a release date.
4. iCloud will certainly figure, but again it could be a release date for Apple's cloud storage and sync system.
5. Steve Jobs may make an appearance, according to some reports. Others say he's not well enough to attend. 
6. And one more thing....well, could be anything. 

So...hold on to your iPhones, iPads and iPods...take a seat...and tune in at 10am California Time, that's 6pm UK time.
