Apple has confirmed it's releasing a new iPhone. Well, sort of new. Old on the outside and newish on the inside.
The iPhone 4S will be available for pre-order on October 7 and will ship on October 14.
But more to the point, there's no iPhone 5. In fact, there was no iPhone 5 mention at all at Apple's iPhone media event.
The 4S will have a faster processor, better 8-megapixel camera with face-recognition, and will be able to use data on the faster HSPA+ networks. It will also have better voice-recognition.
But apart from that, there's not much different to the iPhone 4.
The disappointment of no iPhone 5 was reflected on Wall Street where Apple shares dropped 3% on the announcement.
Pricing in the US is $199 for the 16GB version, $299 for 32GB and $399 for 64GB. That all with a two-year contract.
And that's it folks. Nothing much to see here. Move along now.
Update: iPhone 4S pricing is now on the Apple Store website. The sim-free models start at £499 for 16GB, £599 for 32GB and £699 for 64GB. You can pre-order at Apple Store on-line from 00.01 Pacific Time on October 7 that's 08.01 in the UK.
There's also a new 8GB version of the iPhone 4 at £429. None of the UK networks has yet announced pricing on contract.
