Figures just released show the iPad is dominating tablet internet traffic in the US. Not just dominating, but overwhelming it. The iPad accounts for a huge 97.2% of all tablet data use, according to the figures from comScore.
And as for operating system usage in the US - tablets as well as smartphones - iOS is also No.1.
While Android may have more smartphone devices, iOS has 43.1% of usage. Android comes in second at 34.1% and RIM's Blackberry trails in third at 15.4%.
The figures are interesting for magazine and newspaper publishers: iOS is obviously an important platform for them to get readers - despite Apple sticking to its policy of only allowing in-app subscriptions and creaming off 30% of the payments.
It'll be interesting to see what happens when Amazon releases it's much-cheaper Fire tablet with its subscriptions shop. That is the only device on the horizon that could seriously dent Apple's dominence.
