Samsung Goes For iPhone 4S Ban In Japan And Australia

The Samsung vs. Apple court battle has taken a new twist, with the Korean electronics giant trying to ban the sale of the new iPhone 4S in Australia and Japan.

Samsung is already taking similar legal steps in France and Italy, claiming the new device infringes patents.

It's the latest in a series of tit-for-tat court actions between the two companies, which has seen some Samsung Galaxy smartphones effectively banned from sale in Europe.
The president and chief operating officer of Samsung Electronics, Lee Jae-yong, left for the United States on Sunday to attend Apple's private memorial service for Steve Jobs, a spokeswoman for Samsung Group said.
Local media speculated that Lee may have a separate meeting with Apple CEO Tim Cook and discuss ways to resolve the intensifying legal row, but the spokeswoman denied the reports.
