Samsung To Launch Modified Galaxy Smartphones To Evade Apple Europe Ban

Samsung says it's modifying three of its Galaxy range of smartphones to evade a ban on their sale in Europe.

The ban was won by Apple when a court in The Netherlands decided some Galaxy devices copy Apple's iPhone in the way users can scroll through photos.

The Netherlands court victory was important for Apple because the majority of Samsung devices are imported into Europe through the country's ports.

Samsung says it will be modifying the software on the Galaxy S, the Galaxy S2 and the Ace.
"We've fixed the technological problem and upgraded products to address the issue. They will be shortly available for sale," Samsung spokesman James Chung said.
The Dutch court gave Samsung until October 14 to address the infringement of Apple patents. Samsung hasn't said when the modified handsets will be released.
