Barnes & Noble have come out fighting with a new 7-inch tablet to take on Amazon's Kindle Fire.
The B&N offering will go on sale in the US on November 17 and will be priced at $249. It's more expensive than the $199 Fire, but it's also more powerful with bigger RAM and more storage.
Both devices run modified versions of Google's Android OS.
B&N has also cut the price of its black-and-white e-ink bookreader Nook to $99, matching the equivalent Kindle device.
Many people thought B&N might throw in the towel in the face of the might of Amazon and Apple's iPad, but it's come out all guns blazing.
I'm afraid there are no UK prices yet, but to be honest B&N has never made a great effort to sell their devices outside the US. Of course, that could change if the new Nooks take off.
