Bill Gates "to get hands-on again" at Microsoft

It seems Microsoft founder Bill Gates is to get more hands-on as the software giant increasingly turns to hardware.

The move will coincide with the appointment of a new CEO with the company's Cloud chief, Satya Nadella currently the favourite for that job and apparently happy to have Gates looking over his shoulder.

It's thought Gates will devote at least one day a week to the firm he founded in 1975 and spend less time at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

At the moment, Gates is company Chairman, a job it's thought he will relinquish to concentrate on new products.

Microsoft needs to made a success in the smartphone and tablet markets. Its deal to buy Nokia should be finalised soon.
