Windows Phone 8.1: Notification Centre...swipe down to kill apps...separate volume controls...new calendar

It's been confirmed that Windows Phone 8.1 will be a major overhaul of the WP operating system.

Leaks from app developers who've now got their hands on the 8.1 Software Developers Kit from Microsoft show dozens of new features.

There'll be a swipe down notification centre, which includes buttons to control WiFi, Bluetooth etc...there'll be separate volume controls for music, games and ringtones....there are new integrated Facebook, Podcast and YouTube apps...redesigned Calendar...users will be able to install non-native messaging apps...and running apps can be killed by swiping down.

Deep breath. And that's just some of the new features.

Microsoft has already said that the update to 8.1 will work on all devices currently running WP8.
